New sleeping technique...

Well it has been about a month since Nicholas has been sleeping through the night and let me tell you it has been a blessing. He goes to bed at about 10:30 pm and then sleeps until about 8 am, with Frank getting up and changing him before leaving for work (another blessing).

Most mornings when Dad goes in to get Nicholas he is usually just entertaining himself by...

you guessed it sucking on his thumb, and as you can see from the photo he looks adorable doing it. I know that some people don't agree with this, but from the research I have done there doesn't seem to be a problem with it. Most children who suck their thumbs fall asleep on their own more easily. And Nicholas is proof of this... In the middle of the night you can hear him begin to fuss a little and then he finds his thumb and is able to fall back asleep without any help from Dad or I.

The other research I have found says that 94% of children stop sucking their thumbs by age 1. We will have to wait and see if that is the case with Nicholas. But for now, he is content to put his thumb, and some times whole hand in his mouth. I think it brings him some comfort, which is good because he is learning how to comfort himself.

I can't believe how fast the time is flying by...
