First Mother's Day...

Well since Dad isn't going to type this I guess I will before we forget everything...

The day before Mother's Day Dad took Nick out to the mall by himself for a couple of hours. I got to stay at home and watch Cooper. Then they got home and I took at bath and Dad watched Nick upstairs. It was really great. Half way through my bath I was given a dirty Nick to bathe, they wouldn't tell me how he got so dirty, just that Dad wasn't done and Nick needed to be cleaned.

It all became clear when they gave me my Mother's Day gifts. First they gave me a card that had Nick foot print on it - I can't believe how much it has grown since he was born. Then they gave me a book called, "Are you my Mother?". Nick and I got to read it together and to this day he likes to read it. Then they gave me a bag of kisses, which is my favourite chocolate. What could be better than this?

Well to top everything off, they then gave me a t-shirt that had Nick's hand and foot prints on it. It was awesome.

----- This is where Dad cuts in ------

Nick and I first saw the shirt on a rack in a store with a variety of other different ones - all were along the theme of "World's greatest mother" and came with some hand paints to place Nicks prints on the shirt. After finding the right size, we went home and started the task while mom was in the bath.

The lesson we learned that day: infants love playing with gushy stuff between their fingers. However, they do not like to spread their fingers apart for a nice, clean hand-print.

In the end, Nick gave mom the shirt along with the other gifts. It wasn't until mom re-read the shirt several times that we realized that we picked the only shirt in the stack that wasn't about mom - it instead said "World's greatest dad". Ahhhhh. A trip back to the store proved that there were no other dad related shirts in the pile of other mothers shirt on a mothers day weekend.

Despite the mix-up (which Mom forgave us for), it was the most fun Nick and I have experienced to date!

Nick's First Solids...

Well, we didn't listen to the doctor totally. We did try to start feeding him solids at around 4 months but we decided to start Nicholas on banana's instead of cereal. Which is what I read was a better first food then the cereal you can buy -- there is more nutritional value in it.

We tried to let him feed himself, which didn't happen. He had no idea what to do, so I tried to help him out a bit. He didn't eat much of it, but it was fun. We ended up with banana every where (all over his face, all over the high chair, every where). The video of this first feeding will be added to the site shortly, we just have to wait for Dad to get the video off the camera and onto the computer. Hopefully this happens soon.

We have since decided to not feed him any more solids until he is at least 6 months. He is showing a little bit of interest in eating, but refuses to eat anything you try to give him. Maybe in a little bit, he will be showing more interest and want to eat the food more.

Rolling Over (YEAH!!)...

Nicholas rolled over for the first time ever!!! We were over at a friends house for a BBQ and Nicholas was being really social and talkative. We put him on the floor to play a little and all of a sudden he rolled over, which he had done once before but he never knew what to do with his one arm that got stuck. But this time he was able to pull his arm out from under himself and roll over completely. He was so proud, mostly because after he did that everyone started clapping and cheering him on.

We were able to get video of him rolling over later that week. We are trying to get it off the camera and onto the computer. Once we do that, we will put it on the website.

P.S. The first time he rolled over was May 20th, 2006

My first Easter...

My first Easter was a good one. My Mom's family came down for dinner on the Friday. Everyone was there, it was really fun. I got a little fussy, just because Mom wanted me to take a nap, but there was too much going on and I didn't really want to. But I got lots of sleep after everyone left.

Then on Sunday, I woke up in the morning to find out that the Easter bunny left me a present. He must have known that we are going camping soon, because he left me some toys to play with at the beach. I am really looking forward to playing with them at the beach, right now I am just working them in by chewing on them.

After we opened my present, we packed Cooper in the car and went to Guelph to visit Nonna and Nonno. But first we went for a walk with Cooper, Rita, Pete, Noah, Jake Will, and Kathy. We let Cooper off of the lease and let him run around with the other dogs. He had a lot of fun running around and swimming in the pond. But Coopers leg was still a little sore, so we had to put him back on the lease so that he would calm down.

After the walk we went and had dinner at Nonna's. It was a lot of fun, and I really enjoyed seeing the whole family. Nonna and Nonno also got me an Easter present -- new clothes to wear on our camping trip (shorts, and tank tops). I can't wait to wear them.
